Suicide Driver Versus Dutch Royal Family

Yesterday, during the Queens Day parade a man attempted to drive his car into the Royal Family's motorcade. I hear that this is the first time in 250 years someone would have been charged with attempting to harm the Dutch Royal Family, but since the guy died from his injuries no charges were filed. Duuuh...Obviously.


5 people have died, 17 are still wounded of which critical. 1 policeman and 1 army police man were also wounded.

The man who attempted the assassination had just lost hes job and house. They say he was not connected to any radical group and that the police found no explosives in the car. They did find a map with the route the royal bus was taking.

When I first saw this story on the news, the reporters mentioned that now the " Dutch's eyes are opened". They went on to discuss that maybe this lone attack would cause the Dutch to increase security and army presence. Sounds like an invite to join the war against terror to me!

I spent some time in the netherlands and it's actually one of the most chilled, relaxed places I've been. I hope this isn't going to change anytime soon.
