Brooklyn's own Sean Carter aka Jay-Z kills Noel Gallagher with humor at this year's Glastonbury Music Festival. Earlier this year Oasis' Noel Gallagher expressed that Jay-Z's headlining of the festival which has a tradition of booking guitar-based headliners was "wrong".
He also stated:
"If it ain't broke don't fix it," "If you start to break it then people aren't going to go. I'm sorry, but Jay-Z? No chance."
"Glastonbury has a tradition of guitar music and even when they throw the odd curve ball in on a Sunday night you go 'Kylie Minogue?' I don't know about it. But I'm not having hip-hop at Glastonbury. It's wrong."
On Glastonbury's website under their Objectives section this is posted:
"The Glastonbury Festival aims to encourage and stimulate youth culture from around the world in all its forms, including pop music, dance music, jazz, folk music, fringe theatre, drama, mime, circus, cinema, poetry and all the creative forms of art and
design, including painting, sculpture and textile art.
I personally don't think Gallagher's opinion coincides with Glastonbury's objective and judging from his recent performance neither does Jay-Z. Watch as he mocks Gallagher as one of Oasis' songs plays. It's funny I've ,heard this song before and kind of like it ;-),but it wasn't until seeing Jay's rendition did I realize it was an Oasis song.
hmmmmm.. marketing genius
